VLodge Hotel

Culture & Hospitality

Established in the heart of Chiang Mai, Thailand - VLodge Hotel is a boutique B & B with a botanical and minimalist vibe, hosting guest from all corners of the globe. The boutique hotel is near many historical and cultural landmarks in Chiang Mai city. It’s less than 10 minutes walk from both the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, Chiang Mai Gate and the Three Kings Monument. The hotel offers a range of private and family rooms fitted with Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, en suite bathrooms and minifridges, as well as air-conditioning.

Nestled in the Heart of Chiang Mai, Thailand

From the design perspective, our goal was to create an elegant, simple and engaging website focused on booking rooms and communicating the value of the hotel experience. The website developed included a checkout form and provided information about the hotel, the amenities, events and local guide information.

The project scope was initially for a website, but the logo was dated and needed a refreshment to look professional online. The client was reluctant to see our versatility and willingness to go the extra mile for this project.

The VLodge management team was open to our design direction for the brand identity and materials created to stand alongside their new website. As the hotel was home to many plants native to the Thailand region, the inspiration to illustrate this flora came as a natural next step in brand development.

Art Direction and Print Media

These drawings were created to illustrate the plants growing around and throughout the 3-story hotel. It made sense to me to represent these natural elements in the visual design language because it offered a consistent experience to what guests will notice with their stay.

The final VLodge Hotel deliverables included the following items.

  • A responsive website that allowed each guest to book or navigate easily to third-party booking sites such as Airbnb, Booking.com, Agoda and Expedia.
  • The works: branded print outs, business cards and dining menus
  • Creative in-room cards that politely refer to electricity usage and trash disposal
  • 30 post social media campaign and 1 minute advertisement

The benefits from the project included a 90-day free accommodation at the hotel. This gave me and my business partner the perfect opportunity to experience the beautiful city of Chiang Mai from a local's perspective. Living in the "Rose of the North" for that time period broadened my horizon of the world and gifted tokens of wisdom that I will carry throughout my entire life and my international design career.
